Our origin

Brothers Mich and Max Ward, and best friend Christian Williamson went on a fishing trip, and decided to leave their phones in the car for three days. They'd accidentally stumbled the idea for Before the Internet.

They started hosting phone-free parties in early 2025. Within 2 months, there had been a BTI event in Toronto, Florida and Bahamas. After the first few events, one thing was clear:

That people in their 20s are craving real life connection, and will show up and show OUT for a phone-free event.

Before the Internet is now an event provider, so they can help facilitate other people having phone-free events.

Why are we doing all this?
Because our generation was promised something they never got. Loneliness is on the rise, and connection is in the sh*tter, and we believe our little black anxiety rectangles might have something to do with it.
