Argentina's School Phone Rules: What Schools Need to Know in 2026

Partly. Argentina has no national law, but several provinces restrict phones in class. Buenos Aires City has limited them since August 2024, Neuquén and Buenos Aires province passed laws in 2025, and Chubut followed in 2026.

Rules are set province by province. In the City of Buenos Aires (CABA), Resolution 2075 bars phones in initial and primary schools during lessons and breaks, and since March 2026 in secondary lessons, though secondary students may use them at break. A Buenos Aires province law covers primary schools, with pedagogical use allowed. Neuquén's law covers primary and secondary pupils during school hours, with justified exceptions.

CABA acted first in August 2024. Neuquén's legislature approved its law on 2 July 2025, and it was put into practice in April 2026. Buenos Aires province's law passed in September 2025, with 180 days for regulations ahead of the 2026 school year. In June 2026 Chubut's legislature approved a law for all levels, in force 30 days after promulgation. Salta, Catamarca, Tucumán and La Pampa act through ministry resolutions.

CABA schools received boxes labelled "Momento Aprendizaje" where pupils leave phones before class. Chubut's law lets only staff use phones in initial and primary schools, while secondary pupils store them in a set place in the classroom unless a lesson plans for their use. Students with documented health or learning needs are exempt there. PISA 2022 found 54% of Argentine 15-year-olds reported distraction from devices in class.

Whatever your provincial law or resolution requires, lockable pouches let students keep their own phone, locked, from the first bell to the last, so escuelas do not collect, store or answer for devices. Before The Internet ships lockable phone pouches and unlocking bases worldwide, including to Argentina, and can print the school's name or crest on them. Schools buy them outright: one price, no subscription, lease or per-student licence. Send us your student numbers and any written quote you have, and we will beat it.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a national school phone ban in Argentina?

No. As of October 2026 rules come from provinces and the City of Buenos Aires, through laws in places such as Neuquén, Buenos Aires province and Chubut, and through ministry resolutions elsewhere.

Does the CABA rule cover breaks?

In initial and primary schools, yes. Secondary pupils must put phones away during lessons but may use them at break, under guidelines set by each school.

Can teachers still use phones in lessons?

Yes, for planned teaching. CABA and Buenos Aires province allow pedagogical use, and Chubut lets secondary teachers authorise use in pre-planned lessons.
